Checkers is going to die.
and I won't be continuing Heart : Sanctuary. But I decided that a long time ago, before Checkers ever got sick.
For those who didn't know, my character Checkers is based off of my actual cat Checkers, who is terribly ill.
It started ...I think at the beginning of November. He kept spitting up saliva... and I didn't think much about it except maybe he was having hairballs. But after a week or so, I noticed he hadn't even touched his cat food. Something was wrong.
It took my parents another week before we got him to the vet. He'd stopped eating completely. The vet said he is anemic and has a liver disease. He also has Jaundice.
They gave him some canned cat food to eat and some pills to help his appetite. That didn't work. The vet also suggested baby food, which he ate a little of, but shortly after decided to not eat it as well.
Then 2 weeks ago, my family adopted a little black kitten. I thought maybe Checkers needed a friend, and I felt sorry for it because it was all alone in the snow (it was a stray). He still needs a name. He's full of energy, and loves to play with anything that makes a sound.
Over the days, he's gotten progressively worse. The pill we give him makes him incredibly tired (the vet said that), and he's lost all of his strength. Today, he can't even meow and didn't even have the energy to swallow his pill. He's so limp, and doesn't have the energy to walk.
So my dad and I decided we have to put him to sleep on Monday, if he can make it that long.
I was crying, and was even when I "finished" up colouring this. I couldn't stand to finish shading the rest of it...
The cat-boy to the right is *WolfofSorrow's cat, Lucifer, who is Checkers' brother. They were born in the same litter here in my house...
*WolfofSorrow also designed all of his clothes and piercings on this picture.
I actually drew this about 2 weeks ago, before Checkers got incredibly worse.
Sorry if this comment is so long. I was going to make it a journal, but since I was uploading this, I might as well put the story here. Plus, more people will read it this way.
